Annunciation Christmas Store

Thanks to the Parent Teacher Organization, the Christmas Store continues to be a highly anticipated annual tradition of Annunciation School. For two days, the school auditorium is transformed into a holiday boutique with Christmas displays, lighted trees, and tables of unique gifts where students can shop independently, selecting gifts for their loved ones. Once their purchases have been made, the gifts are wrapped, and the students leave with the excitement and anticipation of giving their gifts on Christmas morning. Thank you to all of Santa’s helpers for creating this joy of giving opportunity.

Heart Lab
The fifth grade students from Annunciation and Presentation Schools, came together in the Annunciation gym to learn about the cardiovascular system. Various stations, led by parent volunteers, provided information, visual effects and demonstrations for students to gain a better understanding of the anatomy of the heart and the circulatory system. As students rotated through the stations, they were able to view an actual heart, participate in a CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver demonstration, experience the effects of exercise on the heart, and understand the importance of a healthy diet and the dangers of smoking. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for assisting with this awesome learning experience!

Mock Trial Experience

At the San Joaquin County Courthouse, the fifth grade class took part in a lively courtroom drama based on the story of the three pigs. For six weeks, students partnered with Judge Mulvihill and a team of defense and prosecution attorneys, in preparation of their mock trial. Playing various roles as court attorneys, witnesses, bailiff, judge, jury, court clerk, sketch artists and news reporters, students brought the trial to life. As they proceeded through the opening statements, presentation of evidence, witness testimony, cross examination, and closing arguments, it was time for the jury to deliberate and provide their verdict. Was the wolf guilty or innocent? While this trial may be make believe, it is a great opportunity for the students to learn about our legal system and the possibility of entering into a career in the field of law.

Special visit for Annunciation Preschool and Kindergarten

Annunciation Preschool extended a special invitation to the kindergarten class to join them for a presentation from the Stockton Police Department. Together, the students learned how the police work to keep our community safe, some of the equipment they use, and tips for our personal safety. But before everyone headed back to class, the students enjoyed taking turns sitting in the “paddy wagon” and climbing through the back seat of the patrol car. Pretty cool! Thank you to Annunciation Preschool for the invitation and the Stockton Police Department for the visit!

Welcome to the Catholic Faith

During our recent school Mass, Fr. Cesar baptized three Annunciation students in the presence of their classmates and peers. This was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to welcome these students into the catholic faith and also reminded us all the importance, symbolism, meaning, and purpose of baptism. This was a special day for these students as it marks the beginning of their spiritual journey.  Congratulations!
