California Gold Rush Adventure

The fourth grade class spent three days experiencing life during the California Gold Rush where history all began, at the Coloma Outdoor Discovery School. Students hiked through beautiful trails and took a walk across a historic bridge to visit the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park where they saw a replica of Sutter's Mill, the visitor’s museum, and numerous historical artifact. Back at camp, the students learned about the social and economic community of early Coloma through stories, songs, and skits. Their overall outdoor experience not only taught the students about California history but the core value of respect: for nature, oneself and others.
