Red Ribbon Week

Every year during the last week of October, we celebrate Red Ribbon Week, thanks to the planning and organizing efforts of Student Council. Theme days and classroom activities are planned throughout the week and Red Ribbon Week promotional items are shared with the students to help reinforce the positive messages about saying no to drugs and living a healthy lifestyle.

This year, along with delivering the theme, “Your future is key, so stay drug free”, Student Council devoted a theme day in support of “Unity Day”. Students wore all black and an orange ribbon to show that we are united as a school against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. To end the day, Student Council made a special presentation to our younger grades about “Spookley, the Square Pumpkin”, who was not accepted by the other round pumpkins in the patch because he was different. In the end, Spookley helped to save the other pumpkins, who in turn, realized that they were all different in some way. Students left with the message that in order to be #saintsstrong, we must show love and kindness to all.

Student Council 2017-2018

Student Council is a service-oriented group, working together as disciples of Christ to serve and represent our school community . Throughout the year, these students plan monthly community service projects and various activities that promote school enthusiasm and a sense of unity. The 2017-2018 Student Council board members took a pledge during our Wednesday morning Mass, promising to uphold the values of the school and to serve as the voice of their peers. We thank these leaders for answering the call to serve.

Serving Our Community

Annunciation students answer the call to serve! Recently, students filled four large tubs with children’s books that were then donated to the Assistance League of Stockton and will be distributed to Operation School Bell and Book Buddies. Each month, our service-minded Student Council selects a charity for the school to support. Donations are collected at our weekly Masses, and families are very generous when asked to donate for specific needs, such as books, food, etc. Since the beginning of the school year, our students have supported Make-A-Wish, St. Joseph’s Hospital, McHugh’s Marchers (cancer research), and Have-A-Heart (tuition assistance). In November, a turkey and food drive was organized for Catholic Charities, and in February, over one hundred blankets were made by our students for clients of St. Mary’s Dining Room. We are proud of our students for making difference!

2016-2017 Student Council Board

The 2016-17 school year board members were inducted into Student Council during our Wednesday morning Mass. As the students pledged to uphold the values of the school, they each held a candle, which represents the light they will carry forward as they bring light to others. Student Council has been busy choosing monthly charities and planning activities for the school year. Their first organized Fun Sock Friday had nearly the entire student body (and faculty/staff) donning fun socks to add spice to our day. We thank these leaders for answering the call to serve.
