Fancy "Y" Party

First graders came to school decked out in their "fancy" clothes in celebration of their Fancy “Y” Party. Students enjoyed fun and fancy activities celebrating how the fancy “y” sounds like long “e” when it comes at the end of a two syllable word. It was a lovely, funny, happy, busy, fancy kind of day!!

Music to our ears

The sound of music resonates through the school hallway as our kindergarten through fifth grade classes rotate through their music lessons with Mr. Jason Jeffrey, Annunciation School’s music instructor. Melody, harmony, rhythm, form, and expression are the five elements of music being introduced to the students through activities, games, and lessons. As the year progresses, students will learn to read and write music notation and notes, form opinions about different works of music and understand patterns in music through listening. Because music is an important part of our Catholic liturgy, Mr. Jeffrey will also be teaching about the different parts of the liturgy, Mass songs, and how music ties in with the scripture readings.

We welcome our new staff and faculty to the Annunciation family.

Our new Principal, Beverly Fondacabe, is no stranger to Catholic education. Along with 14 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Fondacabe served as an administrator for seven years; four years as Principal at St. Vincent Ferrer School of Vallejo and three years as Vice Principal at St. Bernard’s Catholic School of Tracy. Before becoming an educator, she spent 16 years in the banking and recruitment industries. Mrs. Fondacabe holds a Preliminary California Administrative Credential and California Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) emphasis. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. In her spare time, you will find Mrs. Fondacabe spending time with her family. She loves to camp with her husband Perry and son Ian who is a freshman at St. Mary's. Mrs. Fondacabe loves to read and bake. She is excited to join the Annunciation family.

Kindergarten Rocks!!

Mrs. Tress’ kindergarten class loves to visit the school library! Once a week, they spend time with Mrs. Solari, the school librarian, who reads to them special stories, then helps them check out appropriate books that will build upon their reading skills. This is just one of the many learning opportunities our kindergartners are exposed to throughout the school year. In addition to their fun, yet challenging curriculum, students benefit from the monthly art and science docent programs, field trips, in-house assemblies, weekly Mass participation, and community service opportunities.  Mrs. Tress maintains a strong academic and faith-based environment that fosters a love of learning, encourages behaviors that build character and self-esteem, and models Christian values. With the added support and encouragement of our active parent volunteers and eighth grade buddies, these students are adapting well to their new learning expectations of Annunciation School.

Goodbye, Friends!

Two of our jr. high teachers, Barbie Brey and Kristi Novara, along with aide, Sara Gabbard, opted to move back into the public sector this year.  We will surely miss their smiles and the expertise they shared with the students, but we wish them all the best with their new beginnings.
