Parent Teacher Organization

Before discussing the end of the year activities at the final PTO meeting, Paige Lombardi, outgoing PTO President, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the board for all their support and dedication. Throughout the year, this team of parent volunteers worked closely together to coordinate special activities, support school events, assist with classroom projects, and organize school programs. Their focus is to provide the best possible educational experience for our students and to promote a successful school community. Thank you to the outgoing and incoming PTO board for stepping up and accepting the call to serve, and to all the parents who have provided their support to the many PTO activities throughout the year. Annunciation School is honored to be working with each and everyone of you. We are #saintsstrong!

Grandparent Tea

Mrs. Ross’ first grade class hosted an afternoon tea for their grandparents and special guests to thank them for their love, support, and sharing their time to read with them. The students began the afternoon with a selection of songs, followed by some quality time with their guests, reading stories and enjoying refreshments. Before the afternoon came to an end, students presented Mrs. Ross with a book filled with their papers on what reading means to them. The Grandparent Tea has been a longtime tradition in Mrs. Ross’ first grade class.

Artists in the Making!

Art docent volunteers were busy helping the third grade class with their “fingerprint” art project. Using their fingerprints and washable ink, student’s started out creating pictures of their families and then expanded their creativity to designing a spooky (and fun) Halloween picture.  Art docents, are parent volunteers, who help students to develop artistic skills using a wide variety of techniques.

Kindergarten Rocks!!

Mrs. Tress’ kindergarten class loves to visit the school library! Once a week, they spend time with Mrs. Solari, the school librarian, who reads to them special stories, then helps them check out appropriate books that will build upon their reading skills. This is just one of the many learning opportunities our kindergartners are exposed to throughout the school year. In addition to their fun, yet challenging curriculum, students benefit from the monthly art and science docent programs, field trips, in-house assemblies, weekly Mass participation, and community service opportunities.  Mrs. Tress maintains a strong academic and faith-based environment that fosters a love of learning, encourages behaviors that build character and self-esteem, and models Christian values. With the added support and encouragement of our active parent volunteers and eighth grade buddies, these students are adapting well to their new learning expectations of Annunciation School.

Grandparent Literature Day

Throughout the year, grandparents are invited to Annunciation School to read and share stories with students in Mrs. Ross’ first grade class. Students and grandparents huddle together in small groups and take turns reading to one another; engaging in discussions related to the story; and sometimes just talking about what's on their mind. Today was the last Grandparent Literature Day of the school year. We thank all our grandparents for sharing their time and lending their support and for giving our students an opportunity to build upon their reading and language skills. Your visits were always the highlight of the students’ week!

Christmas Store

The Christmas store has been an annual tradition of the Annunciation School Parent Teacher Organization for many years. Parent volunteers transform the school auditorium into a Christmas shop for the students to personally select special gifts for their loved ones. From the decorated entry, into the room of lighted Christmas trees full of ornaments, and around the organized gift tables, the Christmas store is a special place where children experience the joy of giving. Once their purchases have been made, the gifts are wrapped, and the students leave with the excitement and anticipation of giving their gifts on Christmas morning.

Art Docent Program

The Art Docent program, which is sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization, provides monthly art lessons to K-5 grades during classroom hours. Students are given the opportunity to explore their artistic talents through a combination of art appreciation and hands on lessons, and by the end of each session, they have created what some might call masterpieces.
